Faith: Well, it's an old trick, and one that did not originate with me, unfortunately. :) Basically, all I did was set my camera to shutter priority so that I could control the shutter speed (for rain blur effect), and then had Mom mist a garden hose over the flowers while I shot indirectly towards the sun. (to make the water drops glow)
Since it is really not raining, and you can zoom in to frame the flowers, there is no danger of getting your camera wet, and there is plenty of light to work with.
I never heard about doing it like that before, but it is a cool idea. It's alway neat to learn new camera tricks, and this one really got me. I NEVER thought to fake rain! It looks great!
Happy Fouth of July!

P.S. Is it possible for you to photograph fierworks?

I shoot most all of my photos with my Canon 50D or aging Rebel XT along with my 28-135mm IS USM and 70-200mm f/2.8 L USM lenses. For wide-angle, I have the XT's 18-55mm kit lens.

Wow, that's beautiful!
I don't know how you did it. My rain pictures turn out looking like a misty mess of nothingness.
Um...How DID you do it?

Yeah, sorry, it's fake.... :)
Thanks, A Happy Fourth to you too!
And lastly, yes, it is possible to photograph fireworks, though I have never really tried myself. :)
